Reading Circle is a gospel-centered one- to one literacy and mentoring program that serves refugee students in Vickery. It is a weekly commitment as each volunteer is assigned and trained to work with their students in order to meet his/her own individualized academic needs.
The foundation of all that we say or do is compelled by the gospel of Christ. Our vision is to empower students with literacy, cultivate mentor relationships, and to equip students to become servant leaders. You don't have to be a teacher or have an education background to learn how to work with a student. We will train you in working with your student in an individualized plan to develop them at their own pace. It is a weekly commitment where we ask that you lay your YES on the table and say that you are with us for this amazing journey. (There are normal breaks through the year.)
Our next Reading Circle training is on Monday, January 11th from 7:00 - 8:30 pm at our space which is located at 7317 Holly Hill Dr. #A1, Dallas, TX 75231. The registration fee is $40. (This pays for your background check and training fee.) Once you have signed up you will have the Youtube videos sent to you to view to help prepare you in some of the aspects of our program. We will have an "in- person" training to go over the aspects of the resettlement process - and a hands-on look at what it would like for you to work with your student. You will have a choice of what night to serve with your student. These are the following times.
Mondays 5:00 - 6:30
Tuesday 6:30 - 8:00
Wednesday 6:30 - 8:00
Thursday 6:30 - 8:00
